Two individuals are behind bars this morning following an attempted robbery at the Crossroads Pizza shop in Magnolia.
According to reports from the Tuscarawas County Sherriff’s Office, 24-year-old Nathan Erden, who is listed as homeless, and 22-year-old Dustin Plavka of Waynesburg entered the shop Friday evening and demanded money. A handgun was seen during the incident; however it was not pointed at employees at any time.
After chasing the two from the shop using a baseball bat, the owner informed officers that the suspects were seen running towards the Sandy Valley Estates trailer park. Officers searched the area and, after speaking with some individuals of interest, were able to locate and arrest the two suspects.
While no formal charges have been filed at this point, officials say Erden was arrested for both an outstanding warrant from Carroll County as well as for Possession of Drug abuse instruments.
Both individuals remain in the Tuscarawas County Jail awaiting arraignment in New Philadelphia Municipal Court.
