He retired in 1991 from the Belden Brick Company at Sugarcreek after 45 years. He was a member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren, The Baltic Conservation Club and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
His wife the former Mary Ellen Knerr, whom he married October 15, 1945, preceded him in death on October 24, 2006.
He is survived by a daughter Darlene (Ben) Banks of Grand Ledge, Michigan, 2 sons Donald (Mary Lou) Lorenz of Sugarcreek and Gary Lorenz of Akron, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Lucille Jacobs of Coshocton, Clara Turner of Canton and 4 brothers Paul (Sandy) Lorenz of Baltic, Jay (Arlene) Lorenz of Coshocton, Glenn (Erma) Lorenz of Coshocton and Charles (Shirley) Lorenz of Massillon.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son Glen Lorenz, 2 brothers Edward and Arthur and 2 infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Smith-Varns Funeral Home at 1018 W. Main St., Sugarcreek. Rev. Carl Kandel will officiate and burial will follow in the Brethren Church Cemetery at Baltic. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
