Simon C. Gump, 95, of Kimbolton, died August 15, 2021, at Riverside Manor. He was born April 10, 1926, in Fairview, West Virginia to the late James Herbert and Hazel Annie (Louth) Gump.
 
Simon proudly served in the United States Army from 1944-1947, serving in the 40th Division in World War II. Simon retired in 1985 from Republic Steel in Massillon after 33 years of service and also worked as a farmer and truck driver.
 
He married Dolly (Byard) Gump, who survives, on January 22, 1949. Simon was a member of the NRA and American Legion Post 431 of Newcomerstown, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Simon is survived by his children, Peggy Jane (Chuck) May of New Philadelphia, Raymond Allen (Teresa) Gump of Kimbolton, Steven James (April) Gump of Kimbolton, Wendy Ann (Doug) Brown of Kimbolton; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Simon was preceded in death by his son, David Earl Gump; siblings, Henry Gump, Samuel Gump, Vivian (Gump) Taylor.
 
Services will be Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown, with Pastor Mike Crank officiating, followed by burial at Irish Ridge Cemetery in Kimbolton. Visitation will take place from 12:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.
