A resident of the Westchester area for much of her life, Annie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked at the former Scio Pottery for a number of years. She loved caring for her family and home, especially working in her flower gardens. She enjoyed doing ceramics and collecting antique dishes, as well.
On April 9, 1945, Annie married Charles R. “Bob” Nelson with whom she enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage until his passing on June 11, 2000. They are survived by two daughters, Barbara “Bobbie” Watson of Uhrichsville and Shirley (Larry) Hagan of Newcomerstown; four grandsons, Jim (Kathy) Watson of Uhrichsville, Wesley Hagan of California, Bryce (Shelly) Hagan of North Canton and Micah (Mandy) Hagan of Newcomerstown; great-grandchildren, Heath (Jeannine) Watson of Bowerston, Desiree (Steven) Hardy of Uhrichsville, Nolan Hagan and Lucas Hagan; and great-great-grandchildren, Kohl and Kenadie Watson, and Isaiah, Lily and Zoe Hardy. Annie is also survived by a sister, Ruby Middaugh of Michigan; a brother, Kenny (Julie) Wade of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Young, and a brother, George Wade.
In keeping with Annie’s wishes, a private family service is planned with interment following in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and First United Methodist Church, 201 W. High Ave., New Philadelphia, OH 44663, in lieu of flowers.
