Julia “Judy” Elizabeth Malone, 88, went home to be with the Lord
on Sunday, June 2, 2013. She was born at home in Brooks, Maine
on August 24, 1924 to the late Joseph and Delia (Roberts) Elwell.
She graduated from Morrison Memorial High School in 1943.
She continued her education at Waldo County General Hospital of
Nursing School in Belfast, Maine. There she studied to become a
She and her late husband, Herschel were married on October 4, 1945 at Cape Elizabeth, Maine, in the United Church of Christ. She arrived with him and Marcia in Ohio in September 1946. She then became a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church.
Throughout her life she taught both Sunday School and Bible School. She was a loyal member of the Friendship Class and Ladies Aid Society. Judy was active in the Dundee Auxiliary, Sportsman Club, and Ladies Aid before moving to Gaslight Villa Health Care in Jackson Township, Canal Fulton, Ohio. Judy’s favorite pastimes were crocheting doilies and afghans, painting ceramics, playing Bingo, Rummy and Canasta. She loved to sing hymns and listen to Charlie Pride.
The delight of her life are her three children, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The love of her life, Herschel, passed away in 2005.
She is survived by one sister, Alma DeRosier of Longwood, Florida, her children are Marcia (Bill) Snyder of North Canton, Robert (Luann) Malone of Dundee and Diana (Edsel) Dillon of Doylestown. Grandchildren are Deedra (Vince) Testa, Angela (Chad) Thomas, Megan (Keith) Bailey, Dru W. Snyder (Michele), Paul Snyder (Jill), Molly Malone Patton (Bobby) and Michael Malone; great grandchildren are Justin Clark, Abby and Colton Thomas, Dillon, Natalie Bailey, Olivia, Breana, Braylon Patton, Audra, Ashton and Hannah Snyder.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Dundee United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Dundee Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday 6-8 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 1018 W. Main Street, Sugarcreek.
