Jennifer Lee “Jenny” Heter, age 50, of New Philadelphia, passed away early Monday morning, June 3, 2013, in Union Hospital with her loving husband by her side.
Born December 8, 1962, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence “Larry” and Betty Lynn Atkinson. Jenny graduated from Dover High School in 1981, and married Gregory A. “Greg” Heter on December 17, 1988. She was employed by the Tuscarawas County Senior Center for over ten years as a driver, a job she truly enjoyed, mainly because of all the people it brought her in contact with. Jenny liked gardening and cooking, as well as being in the country - going fishing, swimming and mushroom hunting. She also liked canvassing garage sales and the excitement of auctions. But her family was always first and foremost. She was a loving and beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Jenny will be sadly missed by her husband, Greg; her sons, Joshua and Trenton Heter, of the home; her sisters, Lynn Van Ostenbridge of Dover, and Amy Doidge of New Philadelphia; her brothers, John (Sandy) Atkinson of Dover, and Steve Atkinson of Columbus; her nieces, Laura Farnham of Dayton, Katie Settimio of New Philadelphia, Amy Van Ostenbridge of Dutch Harbor, AK, and Sara Doidge of Cuyahoga Falls; her nephew, Matthew Doidge of Massillon; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Mary Heter of New Philadelphia; and her sister-in-law, Lisa “Sue” (Jan) Downing and family of Virginia.
Jenny will be remembered and celebrated in a gathering Sunday, June 9, 5 – 7 p.m., in the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover – all are welcome. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond remembrance, please visit the Obituaries and Flowers link on the Toland-Herzig website.
