Eva Jeane Kutie Hannahs, age 81, of New Philadelphia formerly of Barnesville died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 in Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio following a period of declining health. She was born in Fayetteville, West Virginia on March 22, 1932, a daughter of the late Stephen Louis Kutie and Mary Lillian Stillwell Kutie Hinds.
She was a 1950 graduate of Barnesville High School. She devoted her life to making a home for her family. After her children were grown, she worked for the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation where she was a claim processor. She retired in 1997.
Surviving are four children: Carol (David) Gossett of Freeport, Robbie (Jeannine) Stephens of New Philadelphia, Randy (Lisa) Stephens of New Philadelphia, and Jackie (Ed) Scott of Fairpoint; a sister, Ellen (Ray) Purtiman of Holloway; step-dad, The Reverend Dalton Hinds of Freeport; fourteen grandchildren David (Marty), John, Jason (Omega), Elizabeth (Pat), Stephanie (Eric), Kim, Christopher (Tiffany), Michael (Lisa), Angela (Ray), Paul, Chase, Tanner, Amber (Brad), and Sloan (Erin); twenty great-grandchildren; and her beloved pets, Cricket and Leo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bettie Kutie Heade and Kathy Lynn Hinds; a brother, Robert Hinds; a daughter-in-law, Gale Stephens; and a granddaughter-in-law, Christi Gossett.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High St., Freeport with the Reverend Dalton Hinds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
