A typical weekend call for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department resulted in an unexpected find.
Deputies received a call around 8pm Saturday from a Wainwright resident, claiming that an unknown male subject had just assaulted him outside his home. After arriving on scene to speak to someone about the incident, deputies discovered several large marijuana plants growing inside a greenhouse on a neighboring property.
Deputies learned that the greenhouse, located at 4248 First Street Southeast, was owned by Dale Haugh, who admitted to growing the marijuana for personal use due to chronic ailments. After searching the rest of the property, deputies discovered and seized a small mason jar with suspected marijuana inside, a brass marijuana pipe, a small orange vial with marijuana residue, and five marijuana plants in plastic tubs.
According to the sheriff’s department, a report of the incident has been submitted to the county prosecutor’s office for further review.
