He was born in Apple Creek on December 30, 1917 to the late Carl and Nellie (Harter) Flory and married Martha Cutter on September 10, 1938. She died January 12, 1995.
Virgil had lived all of his life in Apple Creek and was a general contractor. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek and the Apple Creek Historical Society.
He is survived by children, Robert (Darla) Flory of Apple Creek, Judy (Ronald) Reinking of Galion and Nancy (Jim) Johnson of Middle Point; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Lulubelle (Nevin) Bott of Apple Creek.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Marjorie and Alice.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 68 W. Main Street, Apple Creek, with Rev. Scott Casebeer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Family graveside services will be held prior in the Apple Creek Cemetery. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
