Carol was a deeply devoted Christian believer who never wavered from her complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ for all of her needs in life.
Carol had fought a long and difficult battle with cancer, while rarely letting it affect her daily life.
She was born on August 25, 1956 and was the oldest daughter of the late Harold Leroy "Red" and Delora K. Cheuvront Moreland.
She graduated from Tuscarawas Valley High School in 1975 and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. She was well-known as a school crossing guard who worked for many years in Bolivar. Carol was a wonderful loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Daniel L. Dessecker, whom she married June 6, 1981,
She is also survived by her children Amy (Patrick) Worrell of Massillon, O., Brian (Etta) Dessecker of Bolivar, O., and Mark Dessecker of New Philadelphia. Carol is also survived by her granddaughter Ruby Worrell, who will always be "Grandma's Little Girl". A brother Steve (Sue) Moreland of Sherrodsville, O., and a sister Christine Baiker of New Philadelphia also survive.
The family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to Pastor Don Snow and Becky Snow and all of the Calvary Baptist Church Family for all of their thoughts, prayers, and help during this difficult time. Thank you also to Dr. Nagajothi and the Staff of Tri-County Cancer Center of Dover. Their help and encouragement while Carol was in their care will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Don Snow officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. A family reception will take place in the Calvary Baptist Church following services. The family requests that anyone wishing to make memorial contributions, that they be made to the Hennis Care Centre of Bolivar, 300 Yant Street, Bolivar, Ohio 44612 in memory of Carol, who served as a long time volunteer at the centre.
