Grace Lucille “Sissy” Lockett Fox, age 99, of Gnadenhutten died Sunday, September 8, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born July 8, 1914, a daughter of the late Wallace Duncan Lockett and Mayme Ruth Wheland Lockett Donaldson.
Grace graduated from Coshocton High School in 1932 and from the Coshocton City Hospital Nursing School in 1935. She was employed by Coshocton City Hospital, Twin City Hospital in Dennison, and Dr. Roche in Gnadenhutten. She retired from nursing in 1979.
Grace was a member of the John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten. She was a member of the church’s Women’s Fellowship serving as treasurer for nineteen years. She was also in the church’s bell choir and was a candle maker. She was a life member of the Arbutus Chapter #288 of the Ohio Eastern Star, where she held the position of Secretary for 30 years. She also served as Worthy Matron and Grand Representative to California. Grace was an advisor for the Tents of Grace 4-H club for twenty years, a member of the Gnadenhutten Buckeye Senior Citizens where she served as secretary, and she received the Gnadenhutten Community Service award in 1991. Among her many hobbies were sewing, knitting, and crocheting.
She married the late Eugene Fox in September of 1937. They were married sixty years at the time of his death in 1997.
She is survived by a daughter, Polly Lockett-Fox of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Heather (Todd) Peoples and Kevin (Monica) Issitt; and five great-grandchildren: Connor, Colton, and Hannah Peoples and Tristan and Lucia Issitt.
In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by two brothers, William Lockett and Wallace D. (Bud) Lockett; and a sister, Martha Rose (Charles) Kail.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Eastern Star services at 10:45 a.m. Rev. Darrell Johnson will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Gnadenhutten – Clay Union Cemetery.
