Phone calls coming into the area making false claims has officials cautioning residents.
Residents have experienced a recent round of phone calls asking for money for “Cops for Kids/Bears for Babies.” The caller will then state that they are not from the Fraternal Order of Police because those funds do not stay local. FOP Tuscora Lodge #4 President, Robert Everett, says these claims are untrue.
Everett says the Lodge takes pride in keeping their money locally.
Residents who receive a call should always ask for information before donating any money. Everett says the FOP always clearly identifies them.
The local Fraternal Order of Police will not be raising funds until Christmastime, but residents receiving soliciting phone calls can confirm or report any callers at the local police departments.
