Mona Jean Smith



Mona Jean Smith, 70, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away at Riverside Manor on Monday, October 21, 2013. She was born in Coshocton, Ohio on January 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Harold E. and Helen (Rehard) Elliott.

Jeannie was a 1961 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. On August 20, 1961 she married Clay L. Smith Sr., who preceded her in death on April 8, 2013.

Jeannie loved to read The Bible and attended church at Revival Barn, and The Full Gospel Temple. She was an avid reader, enjoyed to crochet, and was a seamstress, but most of all Jeannie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jeannie is survived by her four children, Catherine C. (Raymond) Meek of Coshocton, Connie A. (James) Nicolozakes of Cambridge, Ohio, Clay L. Smith Jr. of Newcomerstown, and Jessica R. (Scott) Stowers of Newcomerstown; 11 grandchildren, Aaron L. (Maria) Taylor, Brittany R. Meek, Courtney L. Meek, Hannah E. (Michael) Moore, Elena C. Nicolozakes, Demi C. Nicolozakes, Travis L. Smith, Kezdynn M. Stowers, Koehlar B. Stowers, Kahnnor R. Stowers, and Krandon J. Stowers; three great grandchildren, Jordan T. Murray, Devon R. Taylor, and Emma L. Hepner; one brother, David L. (Debbie) Elliott of Newcomerstown; one sister, Mary (Lewis) Craigo of West Lafayette, Ohio; one brother-in-law, James Hagan; and her beloved cat, Charlie.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jeannie is preceded in death by one sister, Candice K. Hagan.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
