She was the youngest of nine children, and the last surviving sibling. Her family moved to Canton, OH in 1935. Kathleen graduated from Mt. Marie (Canton Central Catholic) in 1951, attended Barry College in Florida, and graduated from Timken Mercy School of Nursing with an LPN degree. She was an LPN at Mercy Medical Center and later worked for Dr. Joseph J. Kolp. Kathleen was a Carroll County Hospice volunteer and served on the Carroll County Hospice Advisory Board. Kathleen also served as a Director for the Bank of Magnolia since 1994. She was a senior member of the Atwood Yacht Club. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg and served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 25 years and was a master of the spiritual art of Reiki. She loved her church and attended Mass daily. Kathleen took joy in going out with her breakfast bunch, painting, swimming, traveling and gardening. She looked forward to Wednesdays when she painted with her close knit art group. She painted over 300 oil and water color paintings, many of which she donated to various causes.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Greer, on March 20, 1994; her sisters, Marjorie Malone, Betty (Hugh) Correll, and Armonde Finke; her brothers, Dr. Robert Malone, Jack (Norma) Malone, Clayton (Peg) Malone, Colonel Frank Malone, and Monsignor P. Breen Malone; and brothers-in-law, David Greer and Dean Lauritzen.
She was a proud devoted mother to her four children, daughters Maureen (Jim) Merrill, Kelly Arrigo (companion Jeff), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and sons Dr. Michael Greer (companion Colleen), of Cedar Falls, IA, and Kevin (Cindy) Greer, of Magnolia; grandchildren, Colleen (Randy) O’Connell, Megan (Daniel) Mockerman, Caitlin Arrigo, Lauren Arrigo, John Greer, Breen Greer, Ian Greer, Rocco Serafini (fiancée Anna Picciano), Nicholas Serafini, and Michael Greer; great-grandchildren, Carys O’Connell, Quinn O’Connell, Carter Mockerman, and Evan Mockerman. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Mae Malone, Barb Malone, Jane Lauritzen, and Nancy Greer, brother-in-law, Jim Finke, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special friends, Alice, Eileen, and Pat, and many others close to her heart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed., Nov. 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church and Wed. one hour prior to the Mass from 9-10 a.m.
