Born in Mt. Vernon, OH, he was a graduate of the University of Mount Union.
He was a school teacher at Akron Garfield for 38 years and a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was an avid Purple Raiders fan and thoroughly enjoyed their many Stagg Bowls. He loved football, baseball and playing cards with friends
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lilli; his daughters, Debbie (Larry) Townsend and Connie (Bert) Nienaber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses of the I.C.U. at Summa Barberton Citizens Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Spidell Funeral Home, 209 Chestnut Street, NW, Brewster where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM with Dr. Allan Bevere officiating. Burial will follow in the Welty Cemetery near Brewster.
