Central Elementary Students Raising Money for Charity
Shanna Burky Reporting
New Philadelphia Central Elementary students have been raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The idea began when Ethan Colletti, Gaven Blake and Owen Schoelles were given the opportunity to pick a charity that they would be interested in supporting.
Ethan’s mother, Lacy Colletti says the boys began selling the bookmarks on the playground to other students, then broadened their sales when family and friends heard what they were doing, and were interested in buying.
Colletti says the boys have raised about $120 so far, and they are continuing to accept donations. She believes the response has been so good because people are impressed with the boy’s actions.
While the project is over, the boys are continuing to accept donations which can be mailed to 137 Fourth Street SW, New Philadelphia.
