Norma L. Davis



Norma L. Davis, 82, Newcomerstown, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, November 19, at her Newcomerstown residence. Norma was born in Guernsey County on August 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Virgil I. and Otie S. Pegg Mason, who both died in 1961.

She was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class 
of 1949. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown. Norma was employed as a bank teller at the Huntington National Bank, Newcomerstown, for 19 years. She served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, Newcomerstown. She also volunteered her services as a teacher’s aide at the West Elementary School, Newcomerstown. She also assisted her late husband, Charles, with the ownership and operation of the former Farmers’ Elevator Feed Mill, Port Washington. Norma enjoyed reading, doing embroidery, traveling, and, most important, spending time with her family. 
 
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles W. Davis, Newcomerstown, who died on December 4, 2009. Norma and Charles were married on February 12, 1955. Norma was also the last member of her generation of the Mason family, as she was preceded in death by infant twins, Bernard Mason and Bernice Mason, brothers George Ira Mason, Lloyd Mason, Squire Mason, Encil Mason, and Floyd Mason, all of Newcomerstown, Norman Mason, Grove City, and sisters Wanda Wright Bonin, New Hampshire, and Betty Poland, Gnadenhutten.
 
Norma is survived by two daughters and two sons: Peggy L. and husband Leonard W. Klusty, West Lafayette, Vicki L. Mason, Newcomerstown, and her companion, Allan J. Woodard, Zanesville, Harold C. and wife Vickie A. Davis, Coshocton, and Charles W. “Chuck” and wife Jodi A. Davis, Dover. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Emily Klusty, Columbus, Amy (Mrs. Tom) Nelson, Columbus, Joshua Mason and Jacob Mason, both of Newcomerstown, Analea (Mrs. Steve) Smith, Coshocton, Casey and wife Kayla Davis, Coshocton, and Conner Davis and Garret Davis, both of Dover. Her family also includes a great grandson, Braxton G. Smith, Coshocton, and a sister-in-law, Doris (Mrs. Nelson) Mason, Grove City. 
 
Funeral services to celebrate Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 10:30 AM, in the Ourant Funeral Home. Revs. Larry Hukill and Garry Marlatt will conduct the services. Burial will follow at the Salem-Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday evening, 5 until 8 pm, and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM funeral.
