She was born May 13, 1928 in Sherrodsville, and was the daughter of the late Forrest A. "Peanut" and Olive Neomi Moffett Stull. Her husband, James L. DeNicola, Sr. died November 11, 1994. Jim and Mary Lou were married on November 22, 1947. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd A. Stull.
She retired from the former Scio Pottery after more than 35 years of service. She had also worked for the Atwood Chalet at the Par-3 golf course. Mary Lou also helped her sister, Marlene Yosick at Marlene's Gymnastics Center in Sherrodsville for many years. She had been attending the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Sherrodsville High School where she was her class valedictorian and was the Head Majorette. She volunteered at the Dennison Depot Canteen during World War II. Mary Lou was a member of the Conotton Valley Senior Citizens, and enjoyed playing euchre with her friends at the Senior Nutrition Site in Sherrodsville. Mary Lou had the privilege of serving as the Grand Marshall of the 2010 Sherrodsville Homecoming parade. She possessed many hidden talents, such as painting, and even reveled in the opportunity to play golf occasionally. She had a reputation within her family of never missing the opportunity to send greeting cards for every holiday or special occasion. She was blessed with a lovely sense of humor, and found joy in every aspect of her life. Mary was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and was a best friend to her sister Marlene.
She is survived by her son James L. (Jayne) DeNicola, Jr. of Winter Springs, Florida, her three grandchildren Mrs. Rick (Jayme) Schuster of Boca Raton, Florida, Julie DeNicola of Winter Park , Florida, and Justin DeNicola of Casselberry, Florida. her three great-grandchildren Jack, Carolyn, and Emily Schuster, all of Boca Raton, Florida, and her sister Marlene Yosick of Sherrodsville. She is also survived by her "extended family" Allen and LuAnn Yoder of Sugarcreek, O., and their children Cassie, Christian, and Catie, who referred to Mary Lou as "Grandma".
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Interment alongside her husband Jim will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
