Charles Edward Callentine



Charles Edward Callentine, age 91, of Coshocton, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Charles was born in Coshocton on December 25, 1921 to the late Clarence and Vera (Ross) Callentine.

After graduating from Coshocton High School, Charles joined the Army where he served as an MP in France during World War II. Following the war, Charles worked for the Ohio National Guard 211th Maintenance Shop in Newark, where he retired after 30 years of service. He also spent over 50 years as a night watchman for the Coshocton County Fairgrounds.

Charles married Mildred Attlee of Newark, who precedes him in death.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Valerie (Dino) Ghiloni of Newark, and Lynne (Larry) Brengman of Bellingham, WA; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lahmon, and Joseph Klein; and two great granddaughters, Makayla Allen, and Drea Smith. In addition to his wife and parents,

Charles is preceded in death by four brothers.

A graveside service will take place for Charles and Mildred on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 1:00 pm at South Lawn Cemetery. The Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military rites. An online memorial may be viewed at www.given-dawsonfuneralhome.com.
