Jewel M. Herstine



Jewel M. Herstine, age 88, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday morning in Aultman Compassionate Care Center. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Walter and Emma (Gordon) Archinal, was raised in Sandyville, and lived her entire married life in Magnolia. Jewel was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John L. Herstine, Sr., on March 7, 2011, a daughter, Janet Gardner, two grandchildren, Jimmie Herstine, Jr., and Consula Herstine, one sister and four brothers, Esther Scott, Arlo, Adrian “Sam”, Marvin, and Randall Archinal.

Survived by one daughter, Joyce Nero, of North Industry, six sons and daughters-in-law, John and Vicki Herstine, Jr., and Jimmie and Tina Herstine, of Magnolia, Jerry and Cheryl Herstine, of Bolivar, Jay and Carol Herstine, of Magnolia, Joe and Carolynn Herstine, of Minerva, and Jeff and LeAnn Herstine, of Hale, MI; one sister, Isabelle McGraw, of Phoenix, AZ; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Magnolia United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven M. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday (Tonight) 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jewel’s memory may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
