‚ÄčEleanor Mae Nichols



Eleanor Mae Nichols, 81, of Dover, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health. Born in Ashtabula on December 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Bartone) Rose.

Elly’s professional career spanned numerous years at GTE. She also greatly enjoyed her involvement with the Union Hospital Auxiliary and the Tuscarawas Duplicate Bridge Club.

Elly will be deeply missed by her husband whom she married in 1975, Arthur Nichols, Jr.; her daughters, Pamela (Kevin) Riley of Dover, Paula (Lewis) Cross of Willoughby Hills, Peggy Kellogg of Dover, and Patty Page Applebee of Massillon; her step-sons, Ralph (Marilyn) Nichols of Kansas, and Patrick G. Nichols of Philadelphia, PA; her step-daughter, Chantel Vega of Texas; her brothers, Joseph (Wanda) and Michael (Lee) Rose, Jr., both of Ashtabula; her sister, Margaret Mello of Ashtabula; her grandchildren, Bryn (Frank) Kosec, Abby (Jeff) Brown, Lewis Jr. and Mary Rose Cross, Nicole Kellogg, and William Applebee Jr; and 7 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Meredith and John Arthur Nichols, and Miranda and McCauley Nichols; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Elly was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Erin; her brothers, Ralph Rose and Edward Ruscitti; and her sisters, Dorothy Hayes, Theresa Rose, and Jenny Briggs.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Deacon Ron Fondriest will officiate a service beginning at 2:30 p.m. A meal will follow the service in the hospitality room at the Geib Funeral Center.
