Kenny was a resident of Uhrichsville throughout his life and was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1950. While in his teens, he worked at the State Movie Theater in Uhrichsville where he met the love of his life and future wife, the former Tillie Dalpiaz. After high school, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for a time before beginning his 39 year career with General Electric in Dover where he was a group leader in engineering. After his retirement in 1992, he remained close with his former co-workers and enjoyed going out to breakfast with them every month.
On November 11, 1951 at Grace United Methodist Church, Kenny and Tillie were united in marriage which they enjoyed until her passing in 1988. They were blessed with 3 sons, Steve (Dana) West of Tappan Lake, and Ron E. and Rick A. West, both of whom preceded Kenny in death in 2012; daughters-in-law, Barbara West and Irma West, both of Tappan Lake; 6 grandchildren, Kassey (Brian) Mathews, Cody West, Kady West, Leah (Ben) L’Ecuyer, and Luke (Natalie) West who survive him and Jason West who passed in 2006; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jasey Mathews and Kaleigh West who survive him and Joseph West who passed in 2010. Kenny is also survived by a sister, Dorothy (Bill) Freeman of New Philadelphia; sisters-in-law, Jennie and Peg West; numerous nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Ruby Septer of New Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Chuck, Bill, Edna, Harry, Roy, Robert, Marie, Ethel, Wilma, Mary, Betty, and Dick.
Kenny was a loving husband and a devoted family man who cherished the time that he spent with his family. In his retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Sebring, Florida. Kenny was also a faithful, longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville where he served his congregation in a variety of capacities over the years, including as a Trustee a number of times.
