Katherine "Kate" Stringer



KATHERINE "KATE" STRINGER - 74, OF HOPEDALE DIED PEACEFULLY AT HER HOME AFTER A FIVE MONTH BATTLE WITH CANCER. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND OF 35 YEARS, JIM STRINGER IN 1995 AND HER PARENTS, ROBERT LAHM AND LUCILLE SNYDER LAHM. 

KATE IS SURVIVED BY HER DAUGHTER, KRIS SLOAN; A SON IN LAW DON SLOAN; GRANDSON HUNTER; AND BROTHER AND SISTER IN LAW DON AND CAROL RABER, ALONG WITH SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

KATE ATTENDED STARKDALE CHURCH IN WINTERSVILLE AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE HOPEDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. SHE GRADUATED FROM HOPEDALE HIGH SCHOOL IN 1957 AND WAS A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE HOPE PLAYERS THEATER GROUP. KATE SERVED ON THE HOPEDALE VILLAGE COUNCIL FOR 17 YEARS AND WAS ON THE HARRISON COUNTY METROPOLITAN HOUSING BOARD AND THE REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION. SHE AND HER HUSBAND JIM, OWNED AND OPERATED THE HOPEDALE HARDWARE STORE FOR OVER 25 YEARS. 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD SUNDAY AT 3 PM AT THE HOPEDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. FRIENDS MAY CALL UPON THE FAMILY FROM 1 PM UNTIL THE SERVICE TIME AT 3 PM.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS CAN BE MADE TO THE HARRISON CENTRAL GOLF PARENTS, 42225 JEWETT SCIO ROAD, JEWETT, OHIO 43986 OR THE HOPEDALE BASEBALL ASSOCIATION- PARK FIELD FUND, HOPEDALE, OHIO 43976.
