Laura will be deeply missed by her family which, in addition to her parents, includes her husband, Martin Versluis, whom she married on June 8, 1985; their son, Gary Versluis of Westerville; a brother, Steven Wilson and his wife, Linda, of Marietta, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Marjorie Versluis of Grand Rapids; a sister-in-law, Linda Truzkowski of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins, including Connie Stenger and Lynn Tucker to whom she was especially close. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, E. F. and Mary McCarroll.
A 1981 graduate of Swan Valley High School in Saginaw, Michigan and a 1984 graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, Laura had most recently been employed by Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Westerville. Previously, she was a partner with her husband in the operation of Martin’s Photography in Dennison for several years. She was Methodist by faith and attended Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church while living in the area. Laura was loved by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her kind and outgoing spirit.
A memorial service and celebration of her life, officiated by the Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, in Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
