The southbound lanes of Interstate 77 at Dover were closed for more than three hours Monday after a truck hauling 120 bales of straw caught fire.
Trooper Chris Demuth with the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says he was northbound on I-77 about 9:30 a.m. when he noticed smoke coming from a Ford F-550 on the opposite side of the highway.
Demuth says a mechanical failure is to blame for sparking the blaze.
Demuth says the fire destroyed the vehicle and its load of straw.
Demuth says the vehicle, which is owned by Klein’s Lawn and Landscaping of Hartville, was on its way to Maryland. Neither the driver, Neil Shaw of Canton, nor any of his passengers were injured.
